King of Colchis, Keeper of the Fleece
Aeetes is king of Colchis and keeper of the Golden Fleece, guarded in his kingdom by a serpent that never sleeps. When Jason arrives to claim it, Aeetes sets a string of trials meant to be impossible to survive, expecting them to end the matter without an open confrontation.
