Prize of the Quarrel
Briseis is a woman captured after the sack of her city, taken by Achilles as a war prize and treated by him as proof of his own status among the Achaeans. When Agamemnon seizes her from him to compensate for his own loss of Chryseis, the resulting quarrel becomes the engine of the entire Iliad.
