The Bride Lost Twice
Eurydice is Orpheus's wife, killed by a snakebite while fleeing an unwanted pursuer on her wedding day. The earliest Greek attestations of the myth barely name her at all; her fullest surviving story comes from Roman poets, Virgil and Ovid, centuries later.
