The Heifer Who Wandered the Earth
Io is a priestess of Hera, desired by Zeus and transformed into a white heifer the instant Hera draws near — a disguise so obviously suspicious that Hera asks for the cow as a gift on the spot. Zeus can hardly refuse without confirming exactly what he's hiding, and Io ends up guarded by Argus Panoptes, a watchman with a hundred eyes who never fully closes them all at once.
