King Who Feared One Sandal
Pelias seizes the throne of Iolcus from his half-brother Aeson, Jason's father, and rules for years under the shadow of an oracle warning him to beware a man wearing only one sandal. When his nephew Jason arrives at a festival having lost a sandal crossing a river, Pelias recognizes the sign and sends him after the Golden Fleece, gambling that the quest itself will finish what the oracle predicted.
