The One-Eyed Shepherd
Polyphemus is a Cyclops, son of Poseidon, who traps Odysseus and his crew inside his cave and begins eating them one at a time, in open violation of every expectation of hospitality the Greeks held sacred. Odysseus escapes only by getting him drunk, blinding his single eye, and tricking him with the false name Nobody.
