The Labyrinth's Guest
Theseus is one of Athens's great heroes, most famous for entering Crete's labyrinth, killing the Minotaur inside it, and finding his way back out using thread given to him by Ariadne. It is a triumph that immediately curdles: he leaves Ariadne asleep on Naxos on the voyage home, whether by design or fate depending on the source.
