Avenger of Thyestes
Aegisthus is Thyestes's son, born specifically to fulfill a prophecy of vengeance against his uncle Atreus's line. He becomes Clytemnestra's lover during Agamemnon's long absence at Troy, and joins her in killing the king upon his return, framing it as payment owed for Atreus's earlier crimes against Thyestes.
