The Face of War
Helen is the daughter of Zeus and Leda (or, in one older tradition, hatched from an egg after Zeus's pursuit of Nemesis), and queen of Sparta through her marriage to Menelaus. When Paris takes her to Troy, whether by abduction or persuasion is never settled among the ancient sources, an oath sworn years earlier by every one of her original suitors turns her disappearance into a full-scale war.
