Iapetus is a Titan whose importance comes almost entirely through his children, who between them dramatize nearly every possible response to defying Zeus. With Clymene he fathers Atlas, Prometheus, and Epimetheus (a fourth son, Menoetius, is destroyed too quickly to leave much of a story).
