The Mortal Gorgon
Medusa is one of three Gorgon daughters of Phorcys and Ceto, and the only one born mortal; her sisters Sthenno and Euryale are deathless. In Hesiod's account she is simply born a Gorgon, with no backstory of transformation or punishment attached.
